Recently I read a book by Leslie Chang about the struggles of migrant women working in Dongguan. Leslie happens to be the wife of travel writer Peter Hessler (see link at right)
Highly recommend this book to anyone curious about life for many young women in China's booming economy. She describes it perfectly.
Her book is titled FACTORY GIRLS From Village to City in a Changing China.
